The Way

This month the theme for GIFT is The Way. We will just scratch the surface as we look at the laws that God handed down to Moses in The Ten Commandments, as well as what Jesus taught us with the Beatitudes. All these rules help us along the way and serve as our guides along the way.

During our opening you will hear a saying that one of our families has adopted to help them along on their journey, "Because Nice Matters". This rule simple covers all The Ten Commandments as well as the Beatitudes.

As the lead GIFT facillitator for grades 3-6, I find it interesting to see how your children really "get it"!! If you ask them what the 1st commandment is, they can tell you. Better yet, ask them what the 4th commandment is and it will blow your mind when they get it right. (Honor your mother and father) They are learning via the use of Youtube videos, fun activities, bible scripture, song and more. Ask them questions, and you will hear all the right answers. God Bless. As a leader of the Adult sessions, they got to too! We looked at the fifth commandment - not only in the phrase, "thou shall not kill," but the wider, deeper biblical call: "I put before you life and death, the blessing and the curse." People desire to choose life; our fellowship through GIFT may give people the courage to leave behind our culture's temptations to individualism, autonomy and choice and embrace the Servant-God this weekend we call our "King!" Together as a parish, young and old, may we hear the words of the Quaker hymn, "When love is Lord of heaven and earth, how can I keep from singing?"
