First Communion preparation is a two year process that can begin as early as the 1st grade.
All students registered for First Communion are required to attend GIFT Sessions and the following events in preparation for receiving the Sacraments:
First Penance:
In preparation to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation the children will learn the importance of forgiveness, the difference between right and wrong and above all that God is always loving and merciful. At times we have all said or done things that have hurt others and when we examine what we have done and by saying we are sorry we are freeing our hearts to love.
Students will have four preparation classes this year to teach them the importance of living our lives as forgiving and forgiven persons.
First Eucharist:
In preparation to receive their First Holy Communion the children will learn that the bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, the Eucharist. Students will have three preparation classes this year . . It is reasonable to expect that a child is attending Mass.
First Eucharist classes will be offered on Sunday after the 10:05 Mass and Monday's 4pm in the Faith Formation Center. Parents come to classes with their child.
